Ok, I couldn’t wait..I was going to update my blog and make it jazzy before posting this, but o'well!. Here are the pictures of my first home remodeling project. I was sick of vacuuming the stairs and tired of our carpet. I was ready for a change! So, I took a chance…I ripped up the carpet on my stairs and prayed the wood underneath was good. I was lucky; it was manageable and looked really good for builder’s grade wood. So, began my (our..My husband had to help) week long project. Here is the step by step play what we did:
1) Removed the Carpet and Tacks
2) Sanded and stained the Top Part of the Step, part you walk on (Tread)
3) Painted the risers, the walls, and even the spindles, high gloss antique white is what we used
4) Then we put a coat of polyurethane on each Tread
Total Cost $150.00 for brushes, paint, stain, sanding paper, and polyurethane

This was a econimcal way to change the look of our house and save TONS of money. I can't imagine how much it would have cost to have wood floors installed on my stairs.
